FAQ
What are the main differences between the two products effect-wise?
Serene: gentle, soothing, balancing, moisturizing, essential oil-free (great for sensitive or acne prone skin, pregnant or nursing mothers).
Illumine: brightening (helps with dark spots and to even skin tone), hydrating, potent ingredients actively work to target fine lines/wrinkles and skin texture, hydrates skin.
When is the best time to use Serene?
Serene can be used morning or evening and does not contain any ingredients that should make your skin sensitive to sun exposure. It’s a lighter and faster absorbing oil compared to Illumine, so it works particularly well in the daytime when mixed with sunscreen, foundation, etc.
Which one goes first: face oil or moisturizer?
We recommend applying face oil after moisturizer. Since most moisturizers are water-based, oils can penetrate most moisturizers, but not the other way around.
Is Serene a replacement for moisturizer?
Serene can definitely work as a standalone moisturizer, but it depends on a variety of factors (e.g. your skin type, the climate where you live, the time of year). If you feel like your skin needs some extra moisturization, then we recommend first applying a layer of moisturizer and follow with the face oil.
Can I layer Serene with retinol or acids?
Absolutely! We recommend applying Serene after your retinol/retinoid or acid.
Do you recommend using this before or after serums?
We recommend using our face oils after serums.
Is Serene safe to use while pregnant?
Yes! Serene is essential oil free and non-comedogenic - perfect for pregnant or nursing mothers.
How long does one bottle last?
If you use both AM and PM, one bottle should last approximately 1-1.5 months. This can vary slightly from person to person though.
How would you describe the scent?
Serene has the faintest natural scent of fruit (very, very faint though, since it's essential oil-free).
